Position Overview

Working with a collaborative team, the eLearning Developer will design and develop engaging, innovative, and effective eLearning experiences that artfully combine multimedia elements based on sound principles of adult learning theory and instructional design models. The eLearning Developer must possess strong creative abilities and skills, and strong technical abilities to design and create multimedia-rich online educational learning experiences and resources. The ideal candidate will be versatile and well-rounded with experience in both eLearning design/graphic design and adult learning.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop engaging, innovative, and effective eLearning experiences that artfully combine multimedia elements (i.e., text, infographics, images, simulations, video, or other asynchronous elements) based on sound principles of adult learning theory and instructional design models.
  • Leverage rapid, agile development techniques and processes to create content for a rapidly changing environment and support process improvement efforts.
  • Manage the end-to-end development cycle from supporting defined learning objectives to creating storyboards and scripts, to deploying the final eLearning module on an LMS.
  • Create knowledge-checks, simulations, or assessments based on learning and performance objectives using eLearning tools.
  • Manage and complete projects within a specified timeline while prioritizing and working on multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Ensure new and revised content is tied to both course-level outcomes, objectives, and assessments.


  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or Multimedia Design with an emphasis on content development or the equivalent in years of experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in design, development, and delivery of eLearning resources and supporting materials (e.g., infographics, quick reference materials), using an eLearning authoring tool such as Lectora, Adobe Captivate, or Articulate Storyline. Experience in 508 compliance and development of eLearning responsive products for use on mobile devices are a plus.
  • Understanding of learning theories including Bloom's Taxonomy, Universal Design for Learning, and Adult Learning Theory.
  • Experience in all phases of end-to-end eLearning/microlearning development-from information gathering to storyboarding and scripting to creating knowledge-checks, simulations, and assessments based on learning and performance objectives, to deployment on an LMS.
  • Basic knowledge of eLearning publishing standards (e.g., SCORM, AICC, xAPI).
  • Capable of publishing eLearning courses to the web and Learning Management Systems (LMS), applying necessary settings to the course to share required information with the LMS.
  • Ability to work closely and effectively with subject matter experts and both internal and external stakeholders and management to ensure requirements are met and projects are kept on schedule and on point.
