Position Overview

If you are a talented technology leader who has experience in Scrum or Kanban, Project Management, and Development then you have an opportunity to join the technology group at Teaching Strategies in Bethesda, MD. Working with a team of other technology leaders, product group, software and QA engineers you will design, develop, and implement our industry leading SaaS products used by early childhood educators. The company is looking for a highly motivated individual that will work closely with other technology team leaders and will support the implementation of the company products roadmap. As a leader of the technology team, the individual will interface directly with key business partners and help drive our product innovation.

You are a creative thinker, you love to understand the ins and outs of your organization, and you strive to find winning resolutions. You have a high level of integrity and sense of urgency to "make things happen" and will work collaboratively across project teams to achieve project goals.

You will create and manage the project plan and track project progress including dependencies, constraints, and assumptions. You will manage the risk index, identify resource gaps and delays as needed to ensure the project stays on track. As a scrum master, you will be able to encourage velocity, quality, and efficiency while adhering to coding, quality assurance, and project execution best practices. Lasty, the ideal candidate has implemented SaaS applications while working closely with a Product and Design team to ensure the software being delivered meets the goals of the organization.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Scrum Master for a Product Scrum Team
  • Project Management for the Products the Scrum Team supports
  • Cross-team and cross-department Project Management activities
  • Lead all scrum ceremonies to fidelity, institute best practices, and coach the team on how to use scrum and Agile practices and methodology
  • Ensure scrum team is performant against metrics and challenge development norms to improve performance in the areas of quality, velocity, and predictability
  • Ensure team is not blocked, Jira is up to date, and sprint metrics are tracked and acted upon
  • Ensure team is fully engaged, and lead team efforts in relentless improvement
  • Track multiple projects performance to ensure successful implementation of roadmap items on schedule
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans and schedules
  • Monitor project progress and keep stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle
  • Possess technical and Product knowledge of the Products the Scrum Team supports
  • Partner with Product Manager(s) to support and execute on short and long-term release planning, and keep backlog ready and prepared for execution
  • Establish, track and report on scrum KPIs
  • Facilitate regular project status meetings with stakeholders and teams
  • Escalate potential project issues in a timely manner and develop a risk management plan with stakeholders
  • Track multiple projects performance to ensure successful implementation of short and long term goals
  • Manage resources utilization, project scope, deadlines, and budget
  • Manage project vendors
  • Deliver the roadmap and commitments for the Product(s) they are responsible for
  • Manage Tech Product teams
  • Schedule and coordinate releases

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated knowledge and experience with managing software (product) development projects through their entire life cycle (including launch and implementation) using automated management tools
  • 5+ years of experience in an Agile environment as a Scrum Master and/or Kanban practitioner
  • 3+ years of DevOps or development experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Agile / Scrum (ACP) or Certified Scrum Master or Certified Agile Trainer
  • Experience delivering projects on time and budget for a Software as a Service (Saas) while working with a Product team to understand the business needs and consult on direction and timing of projects and deliverables
  • BS in Computer Science, Business, Information Management or relevant industry experience is required

Desired:

  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian Tools (JIRA, Confluence) or comparable Agile suite
  • Experience with industry standard project management tools
  • Knowledge of DevOps, test automation, and ability to organize data and generate metrics, reports, dashboards, etc.
  • EdTech experience at any level
