Position Overview

Teaching Strategies is recruiting for our research team, which conducts research on our early learning solutions to inform educational programming and product development. The Research Associate will support the team's ongoing project management, writing, communication, and soft analytic needs.

The ideal candidate possesses a combination of research project management experience, academic writing skills, and applied knowledge of descriptive statistics. The initial assignment for this role is to build out complementary end-to-end project management systems for internal and external research projects in Asana or other similar software. The secondary assignment is to build out a survey process that supports business needs as well as internal research needs. This is an entry-level position with tremendous opportunity for growth according to the skills and interests of the selected candidate. Applications for this position require a writing sample on a research topic related to early childhood education and/or child development.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as project manager for internal and external research projects, with duties to include scheduling individual and focus group interviews, maintaining electronic file systems, and tracking tasks
  • Contribute to end-to-end survey design-building instruments with conditional logic in SurveyMonkey/Qualtrics, compiling responses, and conducting preliminary analysis
  • Contribute to the development and application of qualitative coding manuals, acquiring additional qualitative analytic skills along the way
  • Support other data collection activities, as needed
  • Support ad hoc reporting needs, to include creating comprehensive reports as well as one-off charts, graphics, and tables
  • Manage ad hoc data export and reports inventory
  • Perform administrative tasks, as assigned


Required skills/experience

  • Bachelor's degree with demonstrated experience supporting social science researchers required; master's degree in developmental psychology, education, ed policy, or other ECE-adjacent field preferred.
  • Project management experience specific to human subjects research in the social sciences
  • Understanding of qualitative research processes
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Academic writing experience (senior paper, thesis, etc.)

Preferred skills/experience

  • Basic understanding of psychometrics, including validity and reliability of assessment data
  • Ability to produce and interpret descriptive statistics
  • Experience using Asana software for project management
  • Familiarity with Teaching Strategies products, especially The Creative Curriculum® and GOLD®
  • Familiarity with program evaluation and implementation science
