Position Overview

Teaching Strategies is recruiting for our research team, which conducts research on early learning topics, in early learning settings, to inform long-term and real-time educational programming. The Education Research Analyst will provide analytic support to advance Teaching Strategies' research agenda.

This role is ideal for a candidate with a broad understanding of observational study design and causal inference methods, quantitative analysis, early childhood education practice, and developmental theory. This position is analytic and writing-intensive. The selected candidate must have the ability to analyze quantitative data from multiple sources using appropriate statistical methods and to communicate findings effectively to academic and non-academic audiences alike. This role also requires cross-departmental collaboration with other teams to support their ad hoc reporting needs. Teaching Strategies' researchers are committed to advancing educational equity; the successful candidate will apply a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to all aspects of their work. The Education Research Analyst will work under the direction of the Director of Research who will provide guidance, review, and mentorship.

Applications for this position require a writing sample on a research topic related to early childhood education and/or child development. Selected candidates will be asked to complete a performance task in the form of a mock ad hoc reporting request (base materials will be provided).

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and consistently apply data cleaning and data management procedures
  • Produce and interpret descriptive statistics of assessment, engagement, utilization, and fidelity data
  • Provide analytic support for more complex inferential analyses
  • Contribute to the design of internal research studies
  • Draft study write-ups, white papers, and RFP responses
  • Provide support to other teams with ad hoc reporting needs, to include compiling data extracts and creating comprehensive reports as well as individual charts, graphics, and tables
  • Assist with developing measures of implementation fidelity for any combination of Teaching Strategies products
  • Craft PowerPoint presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform administrative tasks as required


  • Master's degree in education, psychology, or other related social sciences field.
  • 1–2 to years' experience in the education space, early childhood preferred, as a researcher, analyst, or other similar role.
  • Exceptional data reporting skills with a knack for tailoring reports to the appropriate audience
  • Ability to produce and interpret descriptive statistics
  • Ability to interpret results of observational and (quasi-) experimental studies
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Proficiency in at least one statistical programming language, preferably R or Python, with the ability to produce inferential statistics
  • Proficiency in or willingness to learn SQL and Athena
  • Basic understanding of psychometrics, including validity and reliability of assessment data
  • In-depth understanding of the assessment space in early childhood education

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Working knowledge of HLM/linear mixed effect models
  • Familiarity with Teaching Strategies products, especially The Creative Curriculum® and GOLD®
  • Knowledge of Head Start
  • Knowledge of the Office of Special Education Programs' child outcomes reporting process
  • Familiarity with implementation science
