Position Overview

Teaching Strategies is looking for a highly talented, innovative and creative Manager, Technical Operations to join its technology team. We are looking for a Manager that wants to make a real impact in early childhood education. Our platform is evolving, so you need to be someone who can build new functionality and learn new technologies quickly, as well as be able to maintain and extend existing code to support organizational needs.

Our technology team is responsible for building out SaaS solutions used by educational organizations across the globe. The team works on a wide variety of projects, solving existing problems and enabling new business objectives. As a Technical Operations Manager, you will lead our operations team in developing, deploying, and managing architecture in support of development team initiatives. You will be managing a team supporting multiple cloud-native and hybrid environments (AWS, GCP to name a few), designing infrastructure, and building out a delivery pipeline to enable various initiatives. Specific roles and responsibilities:

  • Provides management oversight to a team of DevOps, operation, and database engineers providing guidance to ensure their success and continued personal growth.
  • Leads the team in the development of mission-critical solutions to support organizational goals to power high-trafficked SaaS platform
  • Participates in planning, analysis, and design of new technical solutions
  • Manages operational budget for the team, infrastructure, and supporting tools
  • Works collaboratively with development teams to translate product requirements into functional production architecture components
  • Takes ownership of production architecture by improving system observability and aligning team roles to support SLAs
  • Supports and enhances build and release processes through automation
  • Works with development teams on software, system, and delivery pipeline optimization
  • Works with direct reports, peers, and upper management to drive continuous improvement and higher standards at all levels of the company.
  • Responsible for production readiness and availability of the product while upholding the highest standard of performance, security, and user experience

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of production experience managing high trafficked, mission-critical production systems
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams
  • Experience with designing and building performant and cost-effective solutions
  • Familiarity with cloud architecture, specifically AWS
  • Experience with containerization strategies and CI/CD pipeline design
  • Understanding of modern design patterns and tools to build best of breed platform
  • Commitment to best-practice security, performance, and networking techniques for high-trafficked public-facing systems
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management and other departments
  • Strong sense of collaboration, teamwork, and accountability
