Position overview

If you are an experienced technical systems analyst who can thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, project-driven environment then consider the opportunity to join the technology team at Teaching Strategies in Bethesda, MD. Working with product group, software and QA engineers and other business analysts, you will help design, document, develop, and implement our industry leading SaaS products used by early childhood educators.

Specific roles and responsibilities:

This individual will play a hands-on role working on elicitation, development and documentation of technical requirements for the Teaching Strategies product development teams. This position will have a close interaction with product group, software development, delivery and support teams, ensuring that all system requirements are clearly documented and communicated. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working on SaaS products within a fast-moving organization operating on complex, high transaction enterprise systems.

The individual will:

  • Analyze and interpret system and enterprise architecture, and document models and requirements
  • Conduct data analysis including data transformation and writing SQL queries
  • Analyze and document requirements around internal and external system integrations and APIs
  • Analyze, document and implement business requirements
  • Collaborate with product group and other key stakeholders
  • Develop internal and external facing documentation
  • Support the go-to-market process and deliverables
  • Support software and QA engineers to ensure that requirements are clearly understood and properly implemented
  • Document functional specifications pertaining to platform and products
    • Produce detailed functional specifications around product integrations, and system architecture
    • Document system architecture
    • Document API requirements in Swagger
  • Conduct data analysis and build detailed data models
  • Develop business and technical requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language and technical jargon
  • Provide and support development of work estimates
  • Develop clear, concise and well-organized system documentation
  • Develop clear and concise stories with well-defined acceptance criteria, examples, and wireframes
  • Work with engineers and development leads to document technical requirements
  • Work with QA to support the development of test cases

Qualifications:

  • Work experience supporting SaaS enterprise products
  • 5+ years as a technical or systems analyst for a software company
  • Strong ability to analyze data, business processes, and provide empirical-based solutions and recommendations
  • Experience writing detailed business and technical requirements, wireframes/screen mockups, and process flows
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Background working with complex business systems and integration projects
  • In-depth understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to varying audiences
  • Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into system requirements
  • Technical aptitude and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical personnel
  • Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously in an environment with constant change
  • Ability to independently move projects forward, while continuing to interact as a member of a coordinated team
