Teaching Strategies, headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, is the leader in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) sector, providing the most widely-used developmental assessment and curriculum system in the US, serving children from birth through 3rd grade.  Recently, Teaching Strategies launched a first-of-its-kind integrated digital curriculum, assessment, and family communications solution to support traditional and remote learning environments and is experiencing significant growth.

Position overview

Based anywhere in the U.S. and reporting directly to the President, Product Strategy, the Senior Director/VP, Digital Platform will be an integral member of the product team. Using your deep experience in and comprehension of digital SaaS and platform product management, you will work closely with the other Product Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, and UX/UI designers to drive the development, testing, rollout and evolution of Teaching Strategies' transition to a digital SaaS company.

You will also have the chance to:

  • Work with a passionate and highly functional team of leaders who are opening doors to lifelong learning and opportunity
  • Consolidate a fragmented market working closely with PE ownership
  • Drive aggressive growth for our company, taking revenues from <$90M to $200M and more within 3-5 years

Specific roles and responsibilities:

  • Compellingly communicate your ideas to a wide range of key stakeholders
  • Function as a bridge across disciplines, including Product, Engineering, Customer Success and Marketing
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, engineers and user research to drive and evolve a clear vision for the digital SaaS ecosystem
  • Own various web and mobile application features, interfaces and experiences
  • Drive user experiences and designs that establish a new set of guidelines and style guides
  • Work closely with a cross-matrixed team of Business Analysts and UX designers to generate detailed specs of final designs that allow developers to build accurately
  • Work with Business Analysts, UI designers, Developers and Quality Assurance Engineers to deliver a polished final product, as well as with Product Marketers and the Customer Success Team to successfully roll it out
  • Mentor other members of the product team with less experience in traditional digital product management roles
  • Continually keep abreast of emerging and best-in-class user experiences and maintain a high-level understanding of the capabilities of the Teaching Strategies ecosystem

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience designing and delivering products in cross-functional teams with well-rounded expertise in visual, interaction design, and prototyping
  • Specific experience within a digital SaaS platform company (not necessarily in the education space) in which the intelligent flow of data has created parallel effects for end-users as intended for Teaching Strategies
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience in HCI, interaction design, product design, communication design, design thinking or related field
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, agile environment
  • The ability to produce results independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Expert understanding of user-centered design methods and best practices
  • Experience working alongside software developers and solid understanding of the software development process
  • Ability to step back and see the whole ecosystem and provide solutions that better the entire user flow, not only the feature
  • Ability to lead and manage large design initiatives
