Position overview:

The Event Marketing Associate supports the Manager, Event Marketing in the development and execution of strategic event marketing plans, integral in supporting Teaching Strategies' business goals via onsite lead generation and customer engagement; while driving brand awareness in new segments, and brand loyalty in mature segments through onsite presence and relationship building at national and state-level events.

Specifically, the Associate is responsible for the implementation of national and regional event marketing campaigns and initiatives across platforms (online, social, print, exhibits, special events) that ladder up to overarching business goals and result in unified messaging and maximum impact within the early childhood community.  

Specific roles and responsibilities:  

In partnership with the Event Marketing Manager, the Event Marketing Associate is responsible for the ideation, development, project management, and implementation of strategic event marketing campaigns to support sales and business goals via national and state-level events.

Campaigns and initiatives will require the Event Marketing Associate's focus on integrated go-to-market strategies, appropriate to the event, customer, or market/segment; while supporting all levels of execution. 

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Innovative onsite lead-capture and customer engagement campaigns
  • Pre-/onsite-/post-event communications:
    • Email
    • Social media
    • Customized landing page/website messaging
  • Sponsorship/exhibit management
  • Event content/collateral development
  • Onsite giveaway strategy/planning
  • Collateral management
  • Post-show reporting and metrics
  • Serves as department lead on planning and execution of all state-level events and exhibits.
  • Provides information about presentation, exhibit and sponsorship opportunities at regional early childhood conferences and events, with recommendations based on research
  • Collaborates with Event Marketing manager on strategic marketing, communications, and campaign planning for state-level trade shows and events, taking into account audience, market/segment, and business goals.
  • Leads all aspects of conference planning and execution for assigned tradeshows and events including sponsorship recommendations and managing related deliverables, planning onsite presence and reserving booth space, arranging for supplies and materials, tracking/payment of all invoices, project managing marketing & sponsorship submissions, handling all related shipping, providing sales reps with relevant logistics information, gathering post-show evaluation information, managing post-show shipments and inventory, sending all relevant leads and contacts gathered at the show to Sales, etc.
  • Builds strategic partnerships with key industry associations and manages related contracts and sponsorships for all assigned events and conferences.
  • Supports conference presentation proposal submissions for conferences and events, as appropriate.
  • Utilizes CRM tool (Marketo) to develop and manage email marketing campaigns, forms, landing pages and provide metrics collected through lead management tool.
  • Tracks expenses from each regional event and exhibit and provides monthly reports to the Event Marketing Manager.
  • Collects leads for all conferences via digital tool and provides metrics to help measure/track ROI.  
  • Develops custom staff surveys to track feedback/evaluation to provide full history of event/exhibit attendance for future planning purposes.
  • Works closely with the Event Marketing Manager to ensure unified messaging and seamless implementation across all events.
  • Partners with the Manager, Event Marketing to support national level event planning and execution, as requested.
  • Additional responsibilities inherent to the role include:
  • Builds strong working relationships across the marketing and sales departments to ensure the successful execution of cross-platform event marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Provides monthly campaign metrics as appropriate using programs including Google Analytics and Marketo.
  • Establishes excellent working relationships and consistent, clear communication with both Field and Inside Sales teams, including sales leadership, sales operations, strategic accounts, and the implementation team.


  • BA or BS degree required in marketing, communications or a related field
  • 2-5 years of related work experience in event management/logistics, educational marketing, or combined experience/expertise in sales
  • Prior experience working with/supporting event strategy, planning, marketing and execution  
  • Proven ability to adapt to fast paced and ever-changing environment
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work well with all level stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience in Marketo or similar marketing automation tools a plus
  • Flexibility to travel as required up to 20-40% (may include weekends)
