Position overview:

The Senior Accountant will primarily be responsible for ensuring accurate processing, recording, and reconciliation of the Company's revenue transactions and will also be responsible for providing timely and accurate financial information to Company management and reconciling various GL accounts. Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, the Senior Accountant will work closely with employees at all levels across the organization and proactively suggest ways to improve efficiencies and processes.

 

Specific roles and responsibilities:  

  • Performs daily and month-end transaction reconciliations to ensure that all transactions processed by or through source systems are accurately captured and imported into the general ledger
  • Maintains deferred revenue sub-ledgers and reconciles same to general ledger balances on a monthly basis
  • Reviews strategic account contracts to determine appropriate revenue accounting for associated transactions
  • Prepares monthly revenue and revenue-related journal entries
  • Analyzes and reconciles revenue and revenue-related accounts (e.g. deferred revenue, accrued revenue, accounts receivable)
  • Works with other departments as necessary for revenue recognition
  • Performs other general ledger account reconciliations as assigned
  • Prepares ancillary journal entries including monthly cash entries
  • Supports month-end and year-end close process
  • Assists with company and various tax audits
  • Provides input into department's goal setting process
  • Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Liaises with Manager of Accounting to improve financial procedures
  • Ad-hoc projects as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years accounting or related discipline experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant field
  • Salesforce experience is a plus
  • SaaS revenue recognition experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, financial statements, practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and financial analysis processes
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients and public
  • Possess a keen eye for detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • General ledger software experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills
