Position Overview:

The Product Manager will be responsible for strategy and communication of assigned product areas.  Product Management responsibilities include product research, defining product requirements, backlog prioritization, roadmap planning, coordinating development efforts, and communicating product positioning to customer-facing stakeholders.  This involves close coordination with the head of product management as well as engineering leads, scrum masters, test engineers, product architects, and technical operations in order to successfully execute the strategy from product development through product launch and ongoing support.   The Product Manager will also need to be an excellent communicator while collaborating with marketing, sales, customer success, and technical support to provide accurate and useful information for messaging and evangelizing the assigned products. 

The person filling the role of a Product Manager will need to possess a wide range of skills.  The Product Manager will be expected to be immersed in the appropriate market niches of their product line.  This means that the candidate should have a working knowledge of Early Childhood Education and administration of education programs with the ability to become an expert who can provide guidance to product development.  The Product Manager will be required to create precise and accurate product requirements (including technical requirements), epics, stories, and acceptance criteria.  This candidate should also having a working knowledge of product life cycle and be able to make strategic product and business decisions.  A laser focus on customer satisfaction and business goals will drive all parts of the Product Manager's day-to-day responsibilities.  Finally, the candidate will need to make a technical/digital product line easily accessible to customer-facing stakeholders and to customers.  

Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains positive relationships with internal stakeholders in order to best inform the product development teams of business priorities
  • Makes strategic decisions based on multiple sources of input in order to meet established deadlines for product release/deployment
  • Moves product decisions and product development through impediments such as resourcing, shifting priorities, urgent bugs, etc
  • Actively creates and maintains a product roadmaps for assigned product portfolio
  • Writes, reviews, plans User Stories and Acceptance Criteria for features and bugs
  • Collaborates with both technical and customer facing stakeholders in order to build and constantly update product roadmaps
  • Bridges communication gap so that customer-facing stakeholders can effectively and transparently communicate with customers, including marketing, sales, and customer success
  • Participates in daily, technical stand-ups
  • Participates in and informs Sprint methodology, including grooming and planning sessions with engineers and QA
  • Plans for and balances new products to add to assigned product portfolio to grow the business roadmap
  • Follows effective Agile and Product Management methodology in order to ensure predictability of release/deployment
  • Meets with customers as needed


  • 3-5 years of experience in the product management process
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Strong background in agile and scrum methodologies
  • Knowledge of modern development practices, including APIs, databases, networking, and mobile apps
  • Understanding of go-to-market strategies and product launches
  • Ability to analyze market, competitive, innovative, and industry trends
  • Strong collaboration
  • Experience documenting use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Ability to communicate technology requirements to engineers and product capabilities to non-technical stakeholders and customers
  • Ability to lead without authority, to influence and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to write clear and actionable Epic, Story, Bug, and Task tickets for development
  • Familiarity with the Early Childhood Education market (Birth-3rd Grade) is desired
