Position overview

The Digital Marketing Associate is responsible for a variety of digital marketing initiatives that include website management, including the implementation and development of the layout, design, and revision of internal webpages and media, and editing HTML and CSS for existing webpages; digital video content creation, production, and editing; social media campaigns to grow our followers, engage and retain them, and help convert them into leads; and day-to-day digital marketing operations. The Digital Marketing Associate manages and maintains the primary marketing website and e-commerce site for Teaching Strategies. S/he needs to have a strong user understanding and demonstrated expertise in web content, usability, architecture, development and design. This position also needs to have experience with the following: online content strategy and development, social media campaign management, email communications, electronic database and content management, search engine optimization (SEO), and web analytics.

Specific roles and responsibilities:  

Website Management

  • Performs regular site updates and maintenance using a CMS platform via WordPress for both the Teaching Strategies marketing and e-commerce websites; includes but not limited to bookshop/e-commerce product updates, updates to Teaching Strategies' backend system (ex. adding new products), creating new webpages as needed, adding press releases, and events/webinars. Update website at request of, and in coordination with, other Teaching Strategies staff across the company, as appropriate
  • Wireframe and mockup revamped or brand-new site pages and present to marketing leadership
  • Strategizes and recommends ways to improve site performance, organic search and user conversion
  • Oversees Search Engine Optimization (SEO) practice and ensure websites are filled with optimal keywords that drive user awareness and engagement
  • Coordinates internal approvals, workflows and timelines for web-based projects.
  • Investigates website activity using Google Analytics to help make recommendations for new web/online initiatives and strategies
  • Partners with internal and external content managers, editors, designers, developers, and other staff to ensure the site meets both internal and external needs, aligns with the brand strategy, and meets Teaching Strategies' web standards

Video Support

  • Records, edits, and publishes webinar/webcast presentations and digital video content created by various departments using Apple, Adobe, Techsmith and other FOSS or proprietary software tools
  • Catalogs, organizes and maintains a library of digital media produced by and for Teaching Strategies
  • Captures studio-quality video both on location and in the office as projects dictate
  • Shoots and edits content to build a library of product videos, explainer videos, vlogs, video for our social channels, podcasts, and how-to videos
  • Leads all technical setup for shoots, including lighting, angle, placement and type of microphone, and positioning of individuals on camera (if appropriate)

Social Media Management

  • Builds company's social media profiles and presence, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn and potentially additional channels
  • Works with our partners in Content to create shareable content appropriate for our audience
  • Help run social promotions and campaigns and track their success, ranging from social media advertising to Facebook Live, using programs like Facebook Insights, Twitter analytics, etc.
  • Drives consistent, relevant traffic and leads from our social network presence
  • Explores new ways to engage and new social networks to reach our target customers


  • 3-5 years of work experience in marketing (preferred) with web experience and social media strongly preferred
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with WordPress required
  • Experience coordinating professional social media and online marketing campaigns
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, plug-ins, and widgets required
  • Experience with Page Builder strongly preferred
  • FinalCut Pro, Adobe After Effects, and knowledge of motion graphics experience highly desired
  • Significant experience editing using Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Premier, Audition and Photoshop (required)
  • Experience capturing and editing using Techsmith Camtasia recording and editing suite (major plus)
  • Apple Mac OS El Capitan and Sierra (required)
  • Experience with Citrix GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar and GoToWebcast strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required
  • Experience with email marketing and marketing automation software (a plus)
  • Strong understanding of Google Analytics, Google AdWords, and experience with data-driven SEO analysis and optimization highly desired
  • Strong attention to detail with experience digging through data for insights
  • Demonstrates strong analytical capability
  • Must be a team player, able to multi-task effectively and juggle shifting priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Detail oriented with strong critical thinking skills
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
